* An All Hallow’s Eve Carnival will be offered to children and parents by Long Beach Alliance Church as a safe alternative to trick or treating. More than 400 children from preschool through fifth grade are expected to take part from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Free games, balloons and face-painting will be offered; for 25 cents children can play in the bouncing booth and for $1 be photographed in their costumes--no scary ones, please. * The Los Angeles Philharmonic Chamber Music Society celebrates its return to the Gindi Auditorium of the University of Judaism--just restored after incurring severe damage in January’s earthquake--with a special benefit performance at 8 p.m. Monday to benefit the university’s Lee College. * El Coro de la Ciudad de Los Angeles, the choir of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese, will perform in a benefit at 8 p.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Martyr Church in Redondo Beach. Gospel, Latino and jazz selections will be played by the group, whose members represent more than 40 parishes. Liturgical dancers Earthen Vessels will also perform.
