Wallenda Wins Stuyvesant Handicap
Wallenda edged Lost Soldier by a head to win the $100,000-added Stuyvesant Handicap at Aqueduct on Saturday.
Pistols And Roses, the pacesetter, weakened in the stretch to finish third, another 2 3/4 lengths behind, in the Grade III race.
Ridden by Herb McCauley and carrying 118 pounds, Wallenda made his bid in the upper stretch, dueling with Lost Soldier.
The winner covered the 1 1/8 miles in 1:50 3-5.
The victory was the third in 12 starts for the 4-year-old colt, who earned $64,740 for owner Dogwood Stable.
Wallenda returned $7, $3.40 and $2.40. Lost Soldier paid $5.40 and $3.10, and Pistols And Roses paid $2.70 to show.
