Two men were shot to death and a third was critically wounded Friday night on a residential cul-de-sac.

Orange police said the victims were sitting in a car outside an apartment complex in the 2000 block of North Highland Street, at 9:30 p.m. when several people approached on foot.

One or more of the people on foot opened fire on the car, police said. The attackers then fled in a car and remain at large.

Police said the victims were all Latino adults. One body was found in the car and one outside it. The critically wounded man also was outside the car. None of the bullets pierced the windows, suggesting the two men had been trying to flee when they were hit, police said.

Lt. Trey Sirks said: “We don’t feel it’s gang-related--it’s related to something else,” although police don’t know what. The victims did not appear to be local gang members, he said.

No gun was found at the scene, suggesting the victims were not armed. Police are looking for a black, late-model Monte Carlo, with the partial California license plate number 2CV . . . 800.

Orange police officers converged on the street, scouring the area with flashlights. But they had no suspects as of late Friday night.
