OUTLOOK

Cypress should contend for the league championship with 10 players returning from last season’s fourth-place squad. In the backcourt, first-team All-Empire selection Mitchell returns after averaging 15 points. Forwards Boberg and Boulton are also solid performers who each averaged 10 points last season. Boulton also averaged 10 rebounds last season although he played part of the season with a hairline fracture in his ankle. “Boulton will be a real surprise to some people,” Gorrell said. “He has a nice touch and will defend our opponents’ best big man.” Bunn, Gingras, Harris, Mitchell, Solheim and Shelton are capable of making significant contributions and will all push for playing time. “I’ve been looking forward to this season,” Gorrell said. “The kids believe we can win league, and that’s what we’re working for.”
