OUTLOOK

Koehler said the league race “will be a real dogfight. There are three teams (Troy, La Habra and Fullerton) so evenly matched, it’s unbelievable.” Koehler said he usually runs an offense with two post players, but will adjust because of Lien’s skills. “She has a good perimeter shot from about 15 feet, she’s real quick, and she’s a leaper,” he said. “She’s got a lot of strength, and we’re going to let her operate one-on-one inside.” Brooke Koehler was the team’s leading scorer last season, averaging 7.8 points. This year, she has improved her ability to drive to the basket. The Highlanders, aside from Lien, are short, which could hurt in a league filled with talented post players. “Height will be a problem,” Koehler said. “We have to run, press and rattle the other team a little bit. We’re going to go after them and create activity.”
