COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Brannan Leads SCC With 26 Points in Opener

Heather Brannan scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Southern California College women’s basketball team past California Baptist, 68-50, Friday in the first round of the Cal Poly Pomona tournament. It was the first game of the season for each team.
Brannan, a forward, made eight of 16 shots from the field and nine of 12 from the free-throw line. Alisha Blomker, a guard, made 11 of 12 free throws and had 14 points for SCC, which made 24 of 34 free throw in the game.
In Big West Conference women’s volleyball:
New Mexico State 3, Cal State Fullerton 1--Jennifer Lipski had 18 kills as the host Titans lost, 15-10, 5-15, 15-1, 15-11. Lisi Fa’agata had 15 kills for the Titans (1-27, 1-16).
In the NAIA Far West Regional women’s volleyball tournament:
Fresno Pacific 3, Southern California College 0--Senior Genevie Wright had 16 kills and senior Celeste Young added 10 kills for Southern California College, which lost, 15-4, 15-10, 15-9. Ann Muther had 14 kills for host Fresno Pacific (23-7). The Vanguards ended the season at 18-11.
