OUTLOOK

Foster thinks that the key to a successful season lies in the Argonauts seven returning players. Some of the Argonauts’ strength will come from junior varsity players--Moore and Boose--stepping up. Foster said Moore (6-2) will add strength inside and should be helpful on the boards. Foster is also hoping Shaw, who at guard averaged 10 points and was first-team all-league selection last season, will provide strong leadership and scoring. Patterson, who was a second-team all-league pick, will also contribute at forward, where she averaged seven points. Foster thinks the Argonauts could have a high-scoring offense, but whether anyone can fill the scoring hole left by the graduation of last year’s ace, Michol Murray, remains to be seen. And though Foster acknowledges that Garden Grove might be a favorite this year, she is quick to point out that there are other good teams in the league, including Santiago and Pacifica. But unlike last season, when inexperience was a big factor, Foster is counting on experience and team unity.
