OUTLOOK

The Colonists may be the most oldest team in the league, but unfortunately for Giroux, that doesn’t always translate into victories. Giroux enters her third season with five seniors and one junior returning from last year’s last-place team. She says the experience should help boost confidence, considering the Colonists won six games last season after going winless two seasons ago. Tu’ua will be one of the team leaders, off a junior season that saw her average eight points and win all-league honorable mention honors. Durrett will also be looked to for scoring, after averaging three points last season, as well as Todoroki. Replacing the point production from four-year starter Maricela Roque at forward will be one of Giroux’s biggest challenges. The Colonists add seniors Koo and McClelland to help with backcourt duties, but they lack size and depth in the post. The lack of size and scoring, along with some stiff league competition, might be too much to overcome for the Colonists to reach the playoffs.
