CAROL LAWRENCE: A musical and dramatic production, “Someone Special,” will be presented by singer Carol Lawrence on four evenings beginning Dec. 4 at Church on the Way in Van Nuys.

Lawrence, a veteran of Broadway and television, is a member of the congregation. Her performances will follow the church’s annual Christmas fireside dinners, for which reservations are required.

For those not attending the dinners, seating will begin 15 minutes before each performance at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4 and 8 p.m. Dec. 5-7. Reservations are not required for the musical program at the church, located at 14300 Sherman Way. Call (818) 779-8000.

EDIE ADAMS: Singer and TV personality Edie Adams will host two performances Dec. 4 of the annual Christmas concert by the Metropolitan Community Church in the Valley.

The concerts, at 5 and 8 p.m., will feature 40 singers and 20 instrumentalists, said Steven Applegate, music director for the congregation in North Hollywood.

The shows will be presented at Church of the Valley, 14602 Kittridge Ave., Van Nuys. A $10 donation will be asked for non-reserved seating. A limited number of reserved seats are available for $50. Call (818) 762-1133.

HANUKKAH CEREMONY: A community Hanukkah menorah-lighting ceremony, including the singing of traditional holiday songs, will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Congregation Beth Shalom, 23045 Lyons Ave., Santa Clarita.

CLERGY FORUM: Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills will conduct an educational seminar Wednesday on new heart treatments, the psychological effects of cardiac disease and family considerations connected with bypass surgery.

The forum is co-sponsored by the chaplaincy services and the parish nurse partnership based at the medical center, 15031 Rinaldi St.

BLAZER TALK: Phil Blazer, publisher of the Valley-based International Jewish News and host of his own local radio and television programs, will speak Friday night at the Verdugo Hills Hebrew Center in Tujunga.

Blazer will talk about the current state of Arab-Palestinian-Israeli affairs after the regular Friday night service conducted by Rabbi Manny Goldstein. The center is at 10275 Tujunga Canyon Blvd.
