QUARTZ HILL — Quartz Hill High Coach John Albee told his team to make each opponent work for every yard.
That’s just what the Rebels did, posting a convincing 21-3 victory over Paramount in a Southern Section Division II quarterfinal on Friday.
In next Saturday’s semifinals, Quartz Hill will play Hart at College of the Canyons.
Tailback Jeremiah Harris rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns in 15 carries, including a 20-yard scoring run that put Quartz Hill (7-3-2) ahead, 14-0, in the second quarter.
With no score in the first quarter, quarterback Michael Fletcher of Paramount (9-3) threw into the end zone for wide receiver David Trotter, but his pass hit Rebel cornerback Monte Reed in the back of the helmet. No face-guarding penalty was called.
Two plays later, Harris ran 82 yards to the Pirate four-yard line, setting up a five-yard run by quarterback Damein Kendrid.
Harris closed out the scoring with a 29-yard run late in the fourth quarter.
Kendrid rushed for 68 yards and completed three of six passes for 29 yards.
