OUTLOOK
The Eagles have the size, the skill and the depth to get mentioned as one of the county’s top teams, so, of course, Estancia should be the class of the league. Six players who started at some point last season are back and are joined by the best from the junior varsity that won its fifth consecutive league title. If Parsel chooses, Estancia could start Byrne, Pierson and Candlish--6 feet 8, 6-7 and 6-6--on a front line that would tower over any league opponent. Plock, MVP of the junior varsity, Richardson, Feeney and Novak provide depth at guard and Foster, a transfer from Irvine by way of Newport Harbor, is a strong swingman. “We’ve got a little bit of everything,” Parsel said. “We’ve got some pretty good ballhandlers and we’ve got some muscle inside. On paper there are not too many teams that stack up with us. I’d like to be a little more humble about it, but I want to be honest. If we play up to our potential, we are going to be very tough to beat.”
