Cal State Northridge was not among the 48 teams selected Sunday to play in the NCAA Division I women’s volleyball tournament, but the Matadors accepted an invitation to compete in the National Invitational Volleyball Championships in Kansas City starting Friday.

Northridge (17-8) will play Oregon State and Sam Houston State in pool play matches Friday, followed by contests against Connecticut and Minnesota on Saturday.

The winners of the four five-team pools will meet in the semifinals Sunday morning, with the victors advancing to the championship match in the afternoon.
