Looking to teach your child some manners? Here are a few important ones recommended by Sally Fleer, who, from 1983 to 1989, taught a “White Gloves & Party Manners” class for Bullock’s department stores:

* Always be prompt. * Stand when an adult comes into a room. * Introduce an older person first, make sure you make eye contact, and shake hands. * Always come to the dinner table with brushed hair and a clean face and hands. * Chew with your mouth closed. * Don’t make an issue out of food you don’t like. * Always RSVP an invitation. * Always write thank-you notes. * If you receive a gift by mail, write a thank-you note immediately.
