PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS
Offensive tackle Darryl Ashmore, completing his third year with the team, has failed to secure a starting spot once again along the offensive line.
Ashmore had been projected to start at right tackle, but after sharing duty with Jackie Slater earlier this season, a knee injury forced him to the sideline. Rookie Wayne Gandy, who failed to make it as a left tackle, started in his place on the right side and remains there.
Ashmore is healthy now, and after a three-week stint at guard in place of injured Leo Goeas, he’s working again as a backup tackle.
“I’m not proud of this season, but there were injuries and things out of my control,” Ashmore said. “You got me as to what will happen down the road, but based on the progress I made last year I know I can do the job.”
