Kenneth M. High Jr. has been elected to a fourth term as managing partner of Nordman, Cormany, Hair & Compton, one of Ventura County’s largest law firms.

Michael C. O’Brien and Paul W. Kurzeka were elected to the management committee.

High has been a member of the firm since 1972. He specializes in real estate law, land-use planning and real estate-related bankruptcy law. He is president of the Ventura County Taxpayers Assn. and he lives in Camarillo.

O’Brien has been with the firm since 1973. He specializes in general civil litigation and is general counsel of several realty associations. He is a member of the board of directors of the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Assn.

Kurzeka, who joined the firm in 1982, specializes in real estate, including tax-deferred exchanges, leasing and foreclosure.

Nordman, Cormany is based in Oxnard and has a branch office in Westlake Village.

* Robert Hammer, a Thousand Oaks investment banker, was principal speaker at an Asia-Pacific banking conference last month in Seoul, Korea. Banking executives from 13 countries attended the three-day conference.

In his talk, Hammer predicted that international banking will bring consumer financial services to the world’s most remote regions. “Those firms with existing contacts in the region will benefit first, since purchasing decisions in Asia are often made in terms of past relationships, not just quality or price,” he said.

Hammer is chairman of R. K. Hammer, a financial advisory group that specializes in mergers and acquisitions, due diligence and financial valuations.

* Brig. Gen. William J. Ball has been named vice president of strategic initiatives of TMM Inc., a Thousand Oaks developer and publisher of video software. A 29-year Air Force veteran, he commanded units involved in Operation Desert Storm.
