PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Three Eagles Score to Beat Sailors, 3-1

Sean Sanders, Seth George and Brian Piesner scored for second-ranked Santa Margarita in its 3-1 victory over Newport Harbor in the championship game of the Irvine boys’ soccer tournament Saturday.

In the fifth-place game:

Foothill 2, Woodbridge 0--Chris Fanti had two second-half goals and Lenny Rudner had five saves to lead Foothill (3-1-1).

In the Long Beach Millikan boys’ soccer tournament:

Huntington Beach 0, Cypress 0 (Huntington Beach wins on shootout, 4-2)--Byron Livingston had six saves for Huntington Beach (3-2-1). Bryce Brunsting had five saves for Cypress (3-2).

In the Rancho Cucamonga tournament:

La Verne Damien 5, Canyon 2--Josh Fraser scored twice for Canyon (3-3-1) in the consolation final. Bobby Reimbold and Larry Witt each scored to lead Canyon to a 2-0 victory over Chaffey in the consolation semifinals.

In nonleague boys’ soccer:

Loara 3, Servite 2--Jonathon LeProux scored the game-winning goal with two minutes left to lift Loara (3-1). LeProux finished with two goals, Paul Malanga added one and Salvador Soto had two assists for the Saxons. Loara scored twice in the last five minutes to win.

In the championship of the Irvine girls’ soccer tournament:

Los Alamitos 1, Irvine 1 (Los Alamitos wins in shootout, 6-5)--Linzey Salisbury of Los Alamitos was one save better than her counterpart Missy Brigman of Irvine.

Newport Harbor 1, Huntington Beach 1 (Newport Harbor wins on penalty kicks, 5-4)--Goalkeeper Jeremi Teal kicked the winning penalty kick for Newport Harbor (1-2-2). Andrea Sparrow had Newport Harbor’s only goal in a fifth-place game.

In the Magnolia Tournament:

El Toro 1, Sunny Hills 0--Jen Staiti scored a first-half goal to lead El Toro (3-1-2) to seventh-place. Sunny Hills fell to 2-5.

In consolation games:

Buena Park 2, Santiago 1--Erica Jimenez and Teresa Flores each scored to lead Buena Park (2-3).

Canyon Springs 3, Troy 0--Sara Hafner had four saves for Troy (2-2-1).

Orange 3, Buena Park 0--Anna Eschenman scored twice in the second half to lead Orange (6-2).

In the Vanguard Cup Tournament:

El Modena 2, Esperanza 1--Erin Warren’s goal midway through the second half put El Modena ahead for good.

Capistrano Valley 1, San Pedro 0--Erin Conners scored one goal and freshman Kim Abbamonto recorded five saves in her first varsity game to lead Capistrano Valley (4-2) to third place.

In nonleague girls’ soccer:

Westminster 3, Costa Mesa 2--Stephanie Wilson scored two goals, including the winning goal midway through the second half, to lead host Westminster (3-0).
