Marlon Gutierrez and his companion were confronted by four men in the 12500 block of Vanowen Street, said Sgt. Bruce Cowan of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division.

The men took unknown property from Gutierrez, and then one of them shot the youth as he tried to walk away, Cowan said.

Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests have been made.

In Northridge, a 52-year-old man was shot by robbers at 11 p.m. Friday when he returned to his home in the 17100 block of Prairie Street, said Police Lt. Steve Zipperman of the Devonshire Division.

Detectives who handled the case were unavailable Saturday, and officers on duty declined to release any details on the shooting. Zipperman said the victim, whose name was not released, was in critical condition at a local hospital, which was not identified.

Early Saturday, a motorist was shot in the neck over an apparent traffic dispute in Reseda, police said.

Andrew Surina, 30, was shot by another driver about 2:30 a.m. Saturday as he drove on Saticoy Street near Etiwanda Avenue, Police Sgt. Tom Toutant said.

In yet another attack, apparently prompted by a dispute over wages, a landscaper was stabbed in Panorama City, said Lt. Al Dravidzius of the Police Department’s Van Nuys Division.

Tony Moon, the owner of a landscape business, was stabbed by an employee shortly after 9 p.m. Friday as the two argued in the 9300 block of Cedros Avenue, Dravidzius said.

Moon underwent surgery at Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills for multiple stab wounds to the chest.

The suspect was still at large, Toutant said.
