Backup quarterback Chris Chandler sat out practice again because of a sore back and said his chances for playing Saturday against the Washington Redskins don’t look good.

Tommy Maddox, who hasn’t played in four games, worked as Chris Miller’s backup for the second consecutive day and will serve in that capacity Saturday if Chandler isn’t ready. Chandler started against Chicago before leaving in the second half because of the back injury.

The Rams announced that 32,359 tickets have been distributed for Saturday’s game against the Redskins, meaning the local TV blackout will not be lifted for what could be the team’s last home game in Anaheim Stadium. The Rams drew 32,969 for their season opener against Arizona, the smallest crowd for a home game since the team moved to Anaheim Stadium in 1980. They have averaged 44,864 a game this season, their low mark since moving to Anaheim.

Linebacker Shane Conlan won the Daniel F. Reeves Memorial Award as the team’s MVP, and wide receiver Isaac Bruce was the recipient of the Carroll Rosenbloom Memorial Award as the rookie of the year, in a vote of media representatives.

Conlan, a three-time Pro Bowl selection with Buffalo, led the Rams in tackles this season with 98. Also receiving MVP votes were tailback Jerome Bettis and cornerback Todd Lyght.

Bruce, a second-round draft pick from Memphis State, caught 21 passes for 272 yards before going on injured reserve Dec. 9 because of a knee injury. He beat out right tackle Wayne Gandy, the team’s first-round pick, and strong safety Toby Wright.

Defensive tackle Jimmie Jones, cornerback Steve Israel and linebackers Tom Homco and Chris Martin were listed as inactive for Saturday’s game.
