Former Simi Valley High left-hander Scott Radinsky has signed a one-year contract with the Chicago White Sox.

Radinsky, 26, spent the 1994 season on the disabled list after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease. He underwent chemotherapy to fight the cancer.

“We expect Scott to be fully recovered and ready to go by spring training,” said Ron Schueler, White Sox general manager.

In 1993, Radinsky was 8-2 with four saves and a 4.28 earned-run average in 73 relief appearances with the White Sox.

Basketball

Center Blake Jacobson of Crescenta Valley High suffered a hyper-extended left knee Monday and might not play until the Falcons’ Pacific League opener in two weeks.

Jacobson, a 6-foot-8 1/2 senior who will play for Navy, said he injured the knee when he stepped on an opposing player’s foot in a game against St. Louis of Hawaii.

“Right now, it feels pretty good,” Jacobson said. “I’m walking on it but I don’t have full range of motion.”

Crescenta Valley (10-0) is ranked No. 1 in The Times’ regional poll.

Alemany High might play a boys’ and girls’ basketball doubleheader at the Sports Arena before a Jan. 20 Clippers game, although final arrangements have yet to be confirmed, girls’ Coach Melissa Hearlihy said Thursday.

The girls’ team would play a nonleague game against Bishop Montgomery and the boys’ team would face Mission League-rival Loyola. However, formal approval has yet to be received from Alemany administrators.

It was reported Thursday in another newspaper that the doubleheader was a done deal.

“That was entirely premature,” Hearlihy said. “Our players hadn’t even been informed of the possibility. We hadn’t received confirmation from Loyola.”

Both Alemany teams have been forced to play all their games on the road since losing the school gym in the Northridge Earthquake last January.

Volleyball

Agoura High school is accepting applications for a boys’ and girls’ volleyball coach beginning with the boys’ season in spring, 1995.
