L.A.’s Christmas May Turn Bright, but Not White
You’re in for some tough sledding if your youngster found a shiny new Flexible Flyer under the Christmas tree this morning and is pestering you for a test ride.
“Zero inches of snow--that’s what I’m forecasting for Los Angeles on Christmas Day,” meteorologist Kris Farnsworth said. “That’s a ballpark figure. Don’t hold me to it.”
While Christmas Eve storms caused scattered power outages and may have been a factor in a 10-car pile-up on the San Bernardino Freeway in Alhambra, forecasters say there is a chance that skies will clear this afternoon. But don’t hold them to that, either.
WeatherData, which provides forecasts for The Times, estimates the chance of morning showers at less than 50%, while the National Weather Service predicts a 20% chance of rain today. The last time it rained on Christmas in Los Angeles was 1983.
An afternoon high of 61 to 63 was forecast.
