WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Vols, Lady Techsters in Rematch

No. 1 Tennessee meets No. 3 Louisiana Tech in women’s basketball tonight in what is becoming one of the sport’s most intense rivalries.

Louisiana Tech (12-1) leads the series, 13-9. Tennessee (13-0) beat the Lady Techsters last month, 69-62, on a neutral court.

Coach Pat Summitt’s Lady Vols haven’t lost since losing to Coach Leon Barmore’s Louisiana Tech team at last season’s Mideast Regional, 61-58. Louisiana Tech went on to the Final Four, losing in the championship game to North Carolina.

Said Barmore of tonight’s matchup: “This is Pat’s greatest team. Her second string is a top-10 team.”
