Last season, the Barons finished in a tie for third in the Sunset League, the toughest league in the county. This season the league might be even tougher, but last week with Ludwicki leading the way, the Barons (14-5, 3-0) showed they are ready for the challenge. Ludwicki had 26 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in a 73-63 victory over eighth-ranked Edison and had 18 points and four rebounds in a 63-56 victory over fourth-ranked Marina. She also helped guard Marina’s Shandy Robbins and Edison’s Marie Philman, two of the league’s best players. “We just tried our hardest and never gave up,” said Ludwicki, who is averaging 18.4 points.
