Syracuse Lands Hart’s Sikand
Hart High offensive lineman Sant Sikand made an oral commitment to Syracuse on Tuesday. Sikand is a 6-foot-7, 300-pound All-Foothill League tackle.

Moorpark College left tackle Charles Jones said he will sign a letter of intent to play for Brigham Young.
Jones, 6 feet 7, 295 pounds, was an All-Western State Conference selection this season. He graduated from Oxnard High in 1993.
Baseball
Chaminade High outfielder Jason Giovannettone will be sidelined for four weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.
Giovannettone, who led the Mission League in stolen bases (24) last season as a sophomore, suffered cartilage damage in the Eagles’ football playoff loss to Ayala in November.
Pitcher Jared Sandler has announced he will transfer from Montclair Prep to Calabasas.
Sandler was 12-2 with a 1.26 earned-run average last season.
Track and Field
Victoria Herazo of Canyon Country placed second in the United States World Cup race-walking trials at Disney World in Orlando, Fla., last weekend.
Herazo, 35, timed 46 minutes 26 seconds over the 10,000-meter course to finish 14 seconds behind Michelle Rohl of Atlanta.
The top five finishers will represent the United States in the World Cup in Beijing on April 29.
Basketball
Krista Stark of First Lutheran High is the state’s leading scorer among girls’ basketball players, according to Cal-Hi Sports.
Stark is averaging 33.4 points; North Hollywood’s Anna Celaya is 12th at 26.4.
Crescenta Valley’s Brock Jacobsen is 12th among boys’ scorers with a 26.8 average and Greg Minor of Canyon is 15th at 26.4.
The Master’s College is ranked 14th in NAIA Division I.
The Mustangs (19-4) have won 12 of 13 games since a 93-62 drubbing from Westmont on Dec. 17.
Cal Lutheran’s women’s team, undefeated through 17 games, has retained its No. 7 ranking in the Columbus Multimedia Division III team efficiency ratings poll.
