Share

Police have arrested a suspected gang member in connection with the shooting of two Oxnard brothers last month.

George Coria, 20, of Oxnard, was booked at Ventura County Jail late Tuesday night on suspicion of attempted murder. He is accused of shooting Daniel Magana, 22, and Victor Magana, 19, as they stood in their front yard at 2620 El Dorado Ave.

Oxnard Police Sgt. Chuck Hookstra said about six gang members approached the brothers the night of Feb. 18 and a dispute--reportedly over stolen beer--erupted.

“Who really knows what the dispute was over?” Hookstra said. “The (brothers) didn’t even know them.”

Daniel was shot in the chest and Victor had gunshot wounds in his abdomen and upper right thigh. Both have been released from local hospitals.
