Bolsa Grande boys’ basketball Coach Tom Cardoza has resigned after seven years for health and family reasons, Athletic Director Ron Inman announced Monday.
“It took me by surprise, but not completely,” Inman said. “We’re really appreciative of the seven years Tom gave us. His teams were always well prepared, played hard and represented the school well.”

Cardoza’s best season was 1993-94 when the Matadors went 14-11 and finished second in the Garden Grove League before losing to Southern Section Division III-AA runner-up Servite in the first round. Cardoza had three playoff appearances during his tenure.
Inman said he will begin searching for a new coach as soon as possible.
“We’re looking to see if we’ll have to stay within the district or if we can go outside,” Inman said. “We would like to get a coach that would be teaching here.”
