Outlook: Mission Viejo loses Brian Gruner, its best singles player, to graduation, but the Diablos have plenty of reinforcements in Kohlberg and Bachelor, who Smith says is his best freshman in 10 years. Fair and Fernandez are excellent doubles players, but they should also help in singles. The Diablos sneaked up on people in the playoffs last year, but there is little chance of that happening this year. This team is loaded with talent and should challenge Dana Hills for the South Coast League title. The Diablos, traditionally slow starters, could also go deep into the section playoffs again.
