Share

Coach: John Stephens (seventh year).

1994: 23-1, 10-0 in the South Coast League. Lost to Santa Barbara, 17 2/3-3 1/3, in the Division I final.

Key returners: David Bailey, No. 1 doubles, reached round of 16 individual doubles tournament last year, Sr.; Mike Baxi, No. 1 or No. 2 doubles, Sr.; Carlos Betancourt, No. 1 or No. 2 doubles, Sr.; Hanley Ernst, No. 3 doubles, Sr.; Brandon Fallon, No. 1 singles, So.; Erik Lundblad, No. 2 singles, Sr.; Justin Rimel, No. 1 or No. 2 doubles, Sr.; Mike Rosenbluth, No. 3 singles, Jr.

Key newcomers: Reid Spiegl, No. 3 doubles or No. 3 singles, So.

Outlook: With nearly everyone returning from the section runner-up team, Dana Hills should be better than it was last year. The Dolphins probably have as much depth as any team in the county. Fallon, who played a lot of tournament tennis over the summer, could be one of the most-improved players in the county, and Bailey is one of the county’s better doubles players. Defending champion Santa Barbara’s top two players graduated last year, so don’t be surprised to see the Dolphins get some revenge this year.
