Facts and Figures: Foothill looks ready to win its fifth consecutive league title, returning seven starters from last year’s Division I runner-up. Villa Park could challenge with six returners, but sophomore Dora Arenas and freshman Erica Shelton are questions in the middle infield. The Spartans’ Brandee McArthur (10-4, 0.29 ERA, 139 strikeouts) is the league’s dominant pitcher. . . Foothill’s Michelle Churnock (.548) and Orange’s Dara Marzola (.420) are the league’s top returning hitters. . . Canyon Coach Eddy says the Comanches’ hopes for the postseason will rely on sophomore Veronica Lopez (.304, two homers).

Highlights: Foothill advanced to the Division I final before running into top-seeded Marina and Times Orange County player of the year Marcy Crouch and lost, 2-0. . . . League MVP Michelle Churnock finished third in the county with a .548 batting average. Her 31 stolen bases ranked fourth. . . Orange second baseman Chris Puccio (.391, 19 runs) finished her high school career by earnng her fourth all-league honor.
