Outdoors : Stormy Weather but Great Fishing at Lake Casitas
Some expert anglers swear that “the worse the weather, the better the fishing,” and it rang true at Lake Casitas near Ventura last week.
“The incoming low has been hot,” said Randy King, who runs the lake concessions.
Translation: a low pressure system that brings a storm also stirs up the big fish.
Chomp Josephite of West Hollywood used one of the Castaic Trout Lures he makes to catch largemouth bass weighing 15 pounds 2 ounces and 13 pounds.
“Then the sun came out and it slowed,” King said.
But another low is due late this week.
