SACRAMENTO — The Cal State Northridge baseball team, already facing three doubleheaders in as many days next month because of bad weather, must play yet another doubleheader today.
A Western Athletic Conference game against Cal State Sacramento scheduled for Saturday was postponed because of rain and saturated grounds at Hornet Field. The doubleheader will begin at 11 a.m.
Scheduled to pitch for Sacramento (11-11, 1-3 in WAC play) are a pair of seniors, both former area standouts.
Westlake High graduate Mike Eby (3-3, 3.13 earned-run average) is scheduled to pitch in the first game and Burbank High product Willie Rivera (2-1, 4.43) will start the second.
Senior right-handers John Najar (3-1, 2.79) and Keven Kempton (1-1, 5.54) are scheduled to pitch for the Matadors (13-9, 0-1). Sacramento won the series opener on Friday, 6-1.
Northridge’s conference-opening series last weekend at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo was washed out. The games will be played with three consecutive doubleheaders April 21-23 at Northridge.
