Coaches Named for Girls’ Basketball O.C. All-Star Game

Coaches have been selected for the girls’ basketball teams participating in the inaugural Orange County All-Star Tournament the weekend of March 31 at the Bren Center.

Jeff Sink of Brea Olinda and El Dorado’s Gary Raya will coach the North. Eric Bangs of Woodbridge and Estancia’s Russ Davis will coach the South.

The game, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on April 2, will precede a North vs. East boys’ game at 6:30 p.m. The all-star weekend begins March 31, with a South vs. West boys’ game at 8 p.m.

Tustin’s Doug Gottlieb, The Times Orange County player of the year, will be honorary captain. Gottlieb, who will attend Notre Dame, cannot play because he is committed to two national all-star games, the maximum allowed by NCAA rules.

The all-star games will benefit Special Olympics.
