Golf Team Gets Share of Title

UC Irvine’s golf team won its second consecutive tournament with a first-place tie in the Cal State Stanislaus Tournament Tuesday at the Del Rio Country Club in Modesto.

The Anteaters and Grand Canyon tied for the title in the 18-team tournament with a 54-hole total of 917. Jesse Lanham led UCI with a 79-73-75--227 to finish sixth. Earl Cross of Cal State Stanislaus and San Diego’s Jerramy Hainline shared medalist honors at 221.

Irvine’s Darren Humphrey opened play Monday with an 85, then came back in the afternoon with a tournament-low round of 69. He shot 74 Tuesday and tied for seventh at 228.
