DOLE AS SPEAKER: Elizabeth Dole, president of the American Red Cross and wife of U. S. Sen. Bob Dole of Kansas, a Republican presidential candidate, will be the featured speaker for National Day of Prayer events May 4 in North Hills.

The San Fernando Valley Prayer Breakfast, held in past years at the Sportsmen’s Lodge, will invite people to attend either of two meals at Los Angeles Baptist High School: a 7 a.m. breakfast or a 10 a.m. brunch, according to an announcement in the Church on the Way bulletin.

MULTIETHNIC EASTER: Valley Korean Presbyterian Church, Monte de Sion Foursquare (Spanish-speaking) Church and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Tarzana will hold a joint Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. at the Methodist church at 5619 Lindley Ave. St. Paul’s, pastored by the Rev. Afrie Songco Joye, will have traditional Easter services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

WISCONSIN SYNOD: Two San Fernando Valley congregations of the Milwaukee-based Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod will meet for outdoor Easter sunrise services at 6:30 a.m. on the grounds of one of the churches, St. John’s Lutheran, 6220 Corbin Ave., Tarzana.

The Rev. David Palmquist, pastor of the host church, will give the sermon. The other congregation, St. Paul’s First Lutheran Church of North Hollywood, is without a pastor.

EGG HUNT: Following the 10 a.m. Easter service at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Van Nuys, children will be invited to search the grounds at 17400 Vanowen St. for Easter eggs, said the pastor, the Rev. Ann Tiemeyer. The congregation is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

WOMEN’S SEDER: A Women’s Passover Seder and dinner will be held at Temple Solael, a Reform synagogue in West Hills, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday under the sponsorship of the temple’s sisterhood. A special Haggada, or narrative handbook for the ritual meal, will reflect on the biblical role of Miriam, the sister of Moses and Aaron. Cost for the evening is $15.
