Miglineks, Simmons Get Team Honors
Junior guard Raimonds Miglineks and freshman forward Kevin Simmons were named most valuable players for the UC Irvine men’s basketball team at the honors banquet Wednesday at the Irvine Marriott.
Miglineks, an All-Big West Conference first-team selection, set a school season assists record with 245, an average of 8.5. He had a single-game, school-record 17 against Nevada Las Vegas. He averaged 12.6 points.
Simmons, named Big West freshman of the year, led UC Irvine in scoring (14.9 points) and rebounding (7.7).
Senior guard Zuri Williams received the defensive award, senior forward Khalid Channell was named most improved, and senior forward Elzie Love received the Michelle Smith-Pontell Academic Challenge award.
