MALIBU : Fire Recovery Center to Shut Doors Friday
Malibu’s fire recovery center is scheduled to close Friday after serving the city’s fire, flood and mudslide victims for nearly 18 months.
The office was opened by the state Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency in November, 1993, after a wildfire burned 17,000 acres, destroyed 358 homes and damaged another 38 homes.
The center, at 23555 Civic Center Way, assisted in disaster recovery efforts and provided information on disaster preparedness. It will be open until 5 p.m. Friday.
