In the Empire League boys’ finals:

Century wins--Robert Villegas won the long jump and pole vault and finished third in the triple jump for Century, which won with 155. Katella had 113 points, Loara 99, El Dorado 95, Cypress 32 and Kennedy 2. Loara’s Mike Arribas won the 100, 300 hurdles and was part of the winning 400 and 1,600 relay teams.

In the Garden Grove League boys’ finals:

Garden Grove athletes share award--Kevin Griswold and Mike Balderas shared male athlete of the meet honors. Griswold won the 100 yards (10.1) and 220 (22.8) and Balderas won the 880 (1:59.2) and mile (4:40.9).

In the Garden Grove League girls’ finals:

Young wins three events--Hang Bui of Bolsa Grande and Stacey Young of Pacifica were named female athletes of the meet. Bui was first in the long jump (16-3) and triple jump (35-1) and Young had victories in the 880 (2:28.5), mile (5:44.2) and two mile (12:14.6).

In the Empire League girls’ finals:

Katella wins--Jaime Vaicaro won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 and Stacey Wright won the high jump and long jump and placed second in the 100 hurdles for Katella, which finished with 129 points. El Dorado had 114, Loara 84, Cypress 54, Century 53 and Kennedy 26.

In the Freeway League girls’ finals:

Steele wins four events--Julie Steele won the 100 (12.76), high jump (4-11), long jump (17-5) and triple jump (35-6 1/4) for Troy, which won 10 events. Buena Park’s Heather Garritson won the 1,600 meters (5:34.62), 3,200 (12:08.18) and finished second in the 800 (2:33.31).
