ROUNDUP : Killeen Completes Three-Event Sweep

Cal State Fullerton’s Heather Killeen completed a three-event sweep with victories in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters Saturday, helping the Titans to an eighth-place finish in the Big West Conference Track and Field Championships at Long Beach State.

Killeen, who won the 10,000 Friday, finished the 3,000 in 9:55.57 and won the 5,000 in 16:52.6.

Utah State won its third consecutive women’s title with 181 points, 30 ahead of Nevada. UC Santa Barbara finished third with 94, followed by UC Irvine (70), New Mexico State (67), Long Beach State (64), Nevada Las Vegas (57) and Fullerton (56).

Utah State won its second consecutive men’s title with 208 points, followed by Long Beach State (157) and UC Santa Barbara (101).

Long Beach State’s Jaime Barragan won the 100 (10.45) and 200 (21.02), with teammate Brandon Thomas finishing second in both events. UC Irvine’s David Mayeda successfully defended his 400 intermediate hurdles title, winning the event in 52.35.

Long Beach’s Jason Frudakis finished second in the decathlon with 6,708 points behind Utah State’s Rob McKenna (7,008 points).

Cal State Fullerton finished fourth with 66 points and UC Irvine finished sixth with 57 points.

In the NCAA Division III softball West Regional:

Chapman rained out--The Panthers’ second-round game against Buena Vista of Iowa was postponed for the second consecutive day Saturday. The game is rescheduled for noon today in Storm Lake, Iowa.

The Panthers won their first game, 4-0, over Simpson of Iowa Friday.
