FULLERTON : City to Buy Land to Build Parking Lot
- Share via
A 2.2-acre parking lot with about 165 spaces is planned for a site next to the Fullerton train station.
The city will pay $1.15 million for the property under a threat of condemnation. The property owner did not protest.
Councilman Chris Norby cast the only dissenting vote against the purchase, saying the council should allow the property owner to sell the land to someone else for development to give him a chance to make more money on it.
Two residents urged the council not to buy the property, saying businesses around the train station should provide their own parking. The city’s parking lot would provide parking for both the train station and businesses.
