Masters champion Ben Crenshaw and Robert Gamez shared the 36-hole lead as the rain-plagued Memorial tournament dodged two weather systems and got back on schedule Friday at Dublin, Ohio.

Crenshaw shot a four-under-par 68 on the rain-sodden Muirfield Village Golf Club course for a total of 135, tying him with Gamez, whose opening round was suspended because of darkness Thursday.

Gamez finished his first round with a 68 Friday morning, then shot a second-round 67.

Peter Jacobsen, who had a second-round 67, was tied at 136 with Greg Norman, Vijay Singh, Bruce Lietzke and one-handed putter Mike Hulbert. Singh and Lietzke each had a 67, Hulbert a 68 and Norman a 70.

Dave Stockton shot a six-under-par 66 for a one-stroke lead over Bud Allin, Bruce Summerhays and Bob Rawlins in the first round of the Bruno’s Memorial Classic at Birmingham, Ala.

Graham Marsh, Mike Hill and Tom Weiskopf were two shots off the lead.

Dale Eggeling followed her personal-best 63 in the first round with a three-under-par 69 and stretched her lead in the $600,000 LPGA Oldsmobile Classic on the Walnut Hills Country Club course at East Lansing, Mich.

With her total of 132, Eggeling was three strokes ahead of Elaine Crosby, Kris Tschetter and Joan Pitcock.

Defending champion Stanford is in better position to win an NCAA title than its freshman Tiger Woods.

Woods, who shot a two-under par 70 on Ohio State’s Scarlet Course at Columbus, Ohio, is in eighth place, seven strokes behind individual leader Chip Spratlin of Auburn.

The Cardinal, however, shares the team lead with Texas going into the final round.

USC, which made the cut by two strokes, moved into contention with the day’s low team round, a 281. That left the Trojans two strokes behind Texas and Stanford. The Trojans were led by Chad Wright with a 67 and Chris Johnson with a 69.
