EASTSIDE : Scholarship Group Gets $50,000 Grant
Chicanos for Creative Medicine, an East Los Angeles College group that provides resources for students entering the medical profession, has received a $50,000 scholarship grant from the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services.
Ten students transferring to four-year schools will receive $5,000 each by this fall.
Students must be eligible for admission as a transfer student to a four-year university and be enrolled in an approved educational program leading to an accredited medical school or nursing program.
Chicanos for Creative Medicine is a student-run group founded 27 years ago to encourage Latinos to enter medicine.
