A Glendale man is scheduled to be arraigned today in connection with the shooting of an 18-year-old man who was wounded while visiting friends Sunday afternoon.

Police said they believe Jaime Huerta, 19, walked up to the front window of an apartment building in the 500 block of Thompson Avenue and fired one shot from a handgun.

Glendale police have not released the name of the victim, who suffered injuries to the arm and torso. The victim was in stable condition Monday at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, police said.

Authorities declined to say whether the shooting was gang-related.

A second suspect, a 20-year-old man from Hawthorne, was also arrested Sunday in connection with the crime, but he was released Monday for lack of evidence, said Officer Linda Reynolds, a police spokeswoman.

Huerta is being held at the Glendale City Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
