Anaheim : 2 Community Tree Plantings Scheduled

Share

Two community tree-planting projects will be conducted this month by ReLeaf Anaheim, a volunteer organization that works to beautify local neighborhoods.

The first planting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday in a central city neighborhood bordered by Harbor Boulevard and Santa Ana, South and Olive streets. After viewing a demonstration on Water Street near Clementine Avenue, volunteers will plant 50 trees on city parkways.

On June 24, ReLeaf Anaheim plans to plant 40 trees in the Guinida/Palais neighborhood between Anaheim Boulevard and the Santa Ana Freeway, north of Cerritos Avenue.

“When you plant a tree, it’s tangible. People immediately notice the difference,” said the ReLeaf Anaheim program coordinator, whose full name is Jaide.

Founded in 1990, ReLeaf Anaheim has planted more than 1,700 trees, Jaide said.

Funding for the plantings is provided by a state grant, the city of Anaheim and local businesses and individuals.
