Brush Fire Blackens 5 Acres in Rancho Palos Verdes
Flames consumed about five acres of brush in the Miraleste area of Rancho Palos Verdes and briefly threatened several homes Wednesday, but there were no reports of injury or structural damage, a Los Angeles County fire spokesman said.
About 100 county firefighters, two county fire helicopter crews and one Los Angeles city fire helicopter crew responded to the blaze that began about 2:30 p.m. along Palos Verdes Drive East, Inspector Greg Cleveland said.
The fire was extinguished about 3:05 p.m., when it was just yards from several homes, county fire Capt. Steve Valenzuela said.
