Brush Fire Chars Area Near School; 2 Teens Arrested

Share

Two juveniles were arrested Wednesday night in connection with a brush fire that charred two to three acres near an elementary school, authorities said.

The teen-agers, who were not identified because they are juveniles, allegedly had been lighting firecrackers near the Truman Benedict Elementary school just before the fire, fire officials and sheriff’s deputies said.

About 7 p.m., firefighters responded to the report of a fire in the 1200 block of Sarmentoso, where they discovered the blaze. The fire was controlled soon, firefighters said, with no reported injuries.
