Rossmoor Driver Killed in Accident
A 35-year-old Rossmoor man was killed in a head-on collision Friday night on the Portola Parkway, the California Highway Patrol said.
Brett Hemnes was pronounced dead at the scene after the 5:20 p.m. accident in the county area near Lake Forest and Foothill Ranch.
Randall Olsen, 38, of Rancho Santa Margarita was arrested in connection with the accident, said CHP Officer Gabe Montoya. He is suspected of driving under the influence of prescription drugs, Montoya said.
According to the CHP, Olsen was driving south on Portola when his car went into opposing traffic. The victim was not able to swerve in time to avoid a collision, Montoya said.
The investigation is continuing.
