Wayne Cook, former UCLA quarterback from Newbury Park, signed a one-year free-agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals. Terms of the contract were not released.

Cook signed during the NFL draft with San Francisco but the Super Bowl champions released him last week after he participated in two mini-camps.

Cook could have a chance with the Cardinals. Dave Krieg, a 37-year-old veteran who played last year for Detroit, and journeyman Mike Buck are in camp at Flagstaff, Ariz.
