Game Shouldn’t Be a Shrine to Thugs
Having just watched the California-Texas Shrine football game, there is no denying the great football talent produced by these two states. On the other hand, I also witnessed enough taunting and cheap shots, not to mention a near bench-clearing brawl, to make the University of Miami proud. If this is indicative of the type of young men our high schools are producing, then perhaps it is time to abolish high school sports and send them back to the classroom--to learn more about good sportsmanship and class.
