Quance Places 5th, Parmenter 9th in Pan Pacific Swim Meet

Kristine Quance of USC and Jennifer Parmenter, a freshman to-be at L.A. Baptist High, finished fifth and ninth Friday in the 400-meter individual medley in the Pan Pacific Championships at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta.

Quance, a former standout at Granada Hills High, timed 4 minutes 47.94 seconds, Parmenter 4:52.89.

Japan’s Fumie Kurotori (4:44.22), the United States’ Allison Wagner (4:45.52) and Australian Elli Overton (4:46.24) took the gold, silver and bronze medals.

Track and Field

Steve Williams, the 1995 City Section champion in the triple jump for San Fernando High, will play football and run track for Mt. San Antonio College during the 1995-96 school year.

Williams, will play wide receiver for Mt. SAC, was one of the more versatile track performers in the City last season. He has personal bests of 49 feet 1 inch in the triple jump, 22-10 1/2 in the long jump, 6-7 in the high jump and 14.5 seconds in the 120-yard high hurdles.

His triple-jump mark ranks fifth on the all-time region list.

Bowling

Allan Chodor of Canoga Park was in 22nd place after the sixth round of the $150,000 Showboat Invitational PBA senior tournament in Las Vegas on Friday.

Chodor started the day in seventh place, but he went 5-11 in match-game play with a pin-fall total of 3,284. He has a 48-game total of 10,213.

Baseball

The Conejo Valley Little League 14-15-year-old all-stars were eliminated from the Western regional, 7-4, by Stockton Morada (17-0) this week at Piner High in Santa Rosa.

The Santa Clarita Athletic Club’s competitive aerobics team will compete in the National Aerobics Championships Southwestern regional competition today at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. The team includes Karen Miller, Shelly Jefferis, Kathy Faulstich and Sylvianna Chapoulaud.
