BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : Royals Deal James for Chamberlain
The Kansas City Royals traded outfielder Chris James to the Boston Red Sox for outfielder Wes Chamberlain.
James, who batted .310 in 26 games with the Royals, had been designated for assignment when the Royals called up four rookies from triple-A Omaha on Saturday.
Chamberlain was hitting .350 for triple-A Pawtucket. He hit .119 in 19 games with the Red Sox before being sent to the minors in June.

San Francisco placed left-hander Trevor Wilson on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained rotator cuff. The Giants recalled Stephen Mintz from triple-A Phoenix. . . . Cincinnati starter Jose Rijo plans to play catch Sunday, testing his right elbow. If there’s any pain, he will request surgery.
