Chatsworth : Post Office Repaired, Set to Reopen Sept. 5
The Chatsworth Post Office, which has been closed for 19 months due to structural damage sustained during the Northridge earthquake, has been repaired and will reopen Sept. 5.
The main facility will return to its site at 21606 Devonshire St.
Since the earthquake, the post office has been housed at 20977 Knapp St. Window services, including stamp purchases and meter-setting, were moved to two trailers at 20946 Devonshire. Because the move will take place during the Labor Day weekend, window services will be moved later.
Despite the combined pressures of the move and the holiday, delivery service will not be interrupted. “Customers will still be able to pick up parcels, certified and registered mail,” said Chatsworth Postmaster Barbara Bell. “We want the move to be as smooth as possible.”
